My home and my family are important inspirations for my art. I have been married to my husband Sam for 62 years and together we raised two children and now have three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. We moved to Floyd in 1983 and the beauty of the area continues to inspire me.
I started art classes at the age of 43 and my first oil painting, a farm landscape, still hangs in the living room of my home. I've taken various classes in Maryland and Virginia and still enjoy taking classes. There is always something new I can learn. I enjoy all types of media: oils, acrylic, pencil, watercolor, and even cake icing! I've done miniature oil paintings for dollhouses and enjoyed painting portraits of animals and people. I agree with the quote by Henry Ford... "If you think that you can, or that you can't, you're usually right."
