A native of Floyd VA, Mark Cox spends his days laying block and stone for foundations, walls, fireplaces, and walkways. When he is not attending to his trade, he amazingly finds time to paint beautiful art. He sometimes chooses to paint landscapes, adorned with the simplicity of trees, fields, and streams and sometimes adds the images of wildlife such as deer, bear, bobcat, and turkey to name a few. His medium is acrylic on canvas, old barn boards, and sometimes even a saw mill blade or antique cross cut saw. Inspired by nature, Mark captures the quiet calm of a sunrise or the coral colors of a sunset often seen in the mountains of Southwest Virginia and places them behind the subject of his art.
