Who We Are
Established in May 2018, The Maggie is a dynamic and eclectic art gallery and gift shop located just a block from the central stoplight in downtown Floyd, Virginia. The gallery proudly exhibits a broad spectrum of artwork by committed local artists and artisans, featuring a variety of mediums such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen and ink, alcohol ink, pottery, and more.
Renovation of the gallery space began in January 2018, and its doors opened to an intrigued public in May of the same year. Many visitors curiously inquired about the gallery's namesake: Maggie, the grandniece of the original owners, Ron and Lenny Campbell. Maggie, a lovely young woman admired for both her name and character, graciously agreed to lend her name and profile to symbolize the gallery.
On September 1, 2022, the stewardship of the gallery transitioned to Ms. Brenda Hopkins, a Southwest Virginia native with deep connections to Floyd and the surrounding areas. Brenda is passionately committed to preserving and enhancing The Maggie's legacy within the community, warmly welcoming locals, travelers, and an expanding circle of artists and artisans.
The Maggie regularly hosts engaging events like "Art on the Lawn," "Art after Dark," and Featured Artist receptions. These events provide delightful opportunities for visitors to spend a leisurely afternoon or evening exploring the gallery, interacting with artists and fellow art enthusiasts, or witnessing live demonstrations of the diverse and impressive talents showcased at The Maggie.
